In February 2015, Health Canada released WHMIS 2015 based on the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of classification and labeling of controlled products. Canadian employers, suppliers, and manufacturers of controlled products will be required to transition to these new WHMIS rules.
With the implementation of the GHS, the WHMIS system has undergone significant change to hazard criteria, classification process, label elements and the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) known under the GHS as Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
