Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) describes a supervisor as anyone who “has charge of a workplace or authority over a worker.” OHSA Regulations also state that supervisors must receive training in their responsibilities within one week of starting their role at the workplace.
Legislation requires that all Supervisors, lead hands and small business owners that also take the role of supervisor in the daily management of the business, be competent in occupational health and safety and applicable regulations.
